Peter Yuda, who lost the Kasama mayoral by-election in January 2026, has returned to the ballot box and won the mayoral seat — this time on the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Progress (NRPUP) ticket.
In January, Yuda contested under the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD). Following that election, he spoke to MakanDay and called for free, fair and transparent elections.
Seven months later, a different party ticket — and a different result.
Yuda is now Mayor of Kasama.
