By Gibson Zulu

Two Lusaka men have pleaded not guilty to aggravated robbery in the High Court, more than eight months after they were arrested.

Solomon Mbewe, 26, and Felix Chipili, 22, appeared before High Court Judge Mutinta Kaumbi Ndulo-Mundia on Monday, 5 October 2026, and denied the charge.

The charge relates to an alleged robbery at about 02:00 in Mulobela Village, Ten Miles on 3 February 2026 in which K9,000 was allegedly stolen from complainant Michael Kalebwe.

Mbewe and Chipili were arrested on 3 February and initially held at Muanjuni Police Post.

MakanDay understands that they remained there until 26 February before being transferred to Ngwerere Police Station on 27 February.

They appeared before a subordinate court on 01 June, when the matter was committed to the High Court for trial.

The two were subsequently remanded at Lusaka Central Prison before being transferred to Mwembeshi Correctional Facility on 12 July.

When the case came before the High Court on Monday, Mbewe and Chipili both pleaded not guilty to the aggravated robbery charge.

The court adjourned the matter to 8 October 2026 for the commencement of trial.

MakanDay has been following the case since the men’s arrests in February.

Mbewe and Chipili remain in custody. They are presumed innocent unless and until proved guilty.
