The High Court has adjourned for the third time the aggravated robbery trial of Solomon Mbewe, 26, and Felix Chipili, 22, after the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) said some witnesses were unavailable to testify.
When the matter came before High Court Judge Mutinta Kaumbi Ndulo-Mundia on Thursday, 15 October 2026, the prosecution said the arresting officer from Muanjuni Police Post had informed the NPA that the witnesses could not attend but were expected to be available at the next hearing. Legal Aid lawyers representing the two accused did not object to the application.
Judge Mundia reluctantly granted the adjournment and set 21 October 2026 as the new trial date. Mbewe and Chipili, who pleaded not guilty to aggravated robbery on 5 October, are accused of stealing K9,000 from Michael Kalebwe during an alleged robbery in Mulobela Village, Ten Miles, on 3 February.
The latest postponement follows earlier adjournments during discussions over a proposal to reduce the aggravated robbery charge to a lesser offence. The two men remain in custody at Lusaka Central Prison.
